Dosas are traditional thin, crispy, South Indian crepes made with rice and lentils. They are served with Sambhar (lentils and vegetable stew) or Cilantro Chutney. They can be stuffed with spiced potatoes, vegetables, chicken or salad. Simply add water to our mix to make batter for perfect Dosas, Uthappam (spiced pancakes), waffles or soft tacos.

INGREDIENTS: Black Lentil Flour, Rice Flour, Cream of Rice, Tapioca Flour, Chickpea Flour (Split Chana Dal Flour), Salt, Sugar, Citric Acid, Baking Powder (Corn Starch, Sodium Bicarbonate, Sodium Aluminum Sulfate, Monocalcium Phosphate), Baking Soda, Dried Fenugreek Leaves

Cooking Directions

  1. Mix 2 LBS of Dosa Mix with 6 cups of water well to make a smooth batter. Let the batter stand for 30 minutes to one hour. 
  2. Heat a flat non-stick pan and coat with vegetable oil or ghee (clarified butter). 
  3. Sprinkle some cold water on the pan and wipe with a cloth or wet paper towel (Repeat for every single Dosa). In the center of the heated pan, pour approximately 2.5 oz. of Dosa batter and quickly spread it in circular motion to make approximately 8-9” round Dosa. It will have a thin, net-like crepe appearance. 
  4. With a spoon, pour oil all around the edges of the dosa and let it cook for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Spread a little oil on the top of the dosa and flip it with a non-stick spatula to cook the other side.
  6. Remove with a spatula, fold it in half or roll it up and serve with Monsoon Kitchens Cilantro or Tomato Chutney.

*Product must be cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F to ensure food safety and quality.  Failure to cook thoroughly may increase the risk of food-borne illness.

Serving Suggestions

  1. Serve with sambar (stew) or chutneys.
  2. Stuff with potatoes, vegetables and chicken.
  3. Make waffles, soft tacos or even delicious desserts!
